A Mixed Up Easter

I decided to do an easter egg hunt with the kids on sunday morning. Usually we are with Ewan's family but this year we could not get away to the farm so it was just us at home. I bought some eggs and scattered them in our backyard (it needs much work this summer!). It was a bit of a mixed up easter; we invited our good friends that are jewish (ewan was easily outnumbered!), and we used halloween bags to pick up all the treats! The kids did not mind, they were obviously focused on finding cholcolate!

Zesty Granola

I wanted some yogurt with granola but we ran out of granola......so I quickly whipped up this batch! So easy and delicious.....1.5 cups of oats
1/4 cup sesame seeds
1/4 cup chopped almonds
a handful of hemp seeds
1/4 cup of grated coconut
1/2 cup raisins
1/4 cup of dried cranberries
1 tsp of cinnamon
some finely grated fresh ginger
1 tsp vanilla
1/4 cup of honey

I mixed up the batch and baked on a cookie sheet at 300F for about 25-30 minutes, stiring the batch a few times so it was evenly cooked. Next time I would double the amounts, my batch is about 3 cups. Here is a photo of my tasty treat....

All Shapes and Sizes

I see lots of kids in my practice and a number of times the parents have mentioned that they are worried that there children are not putting on enough weight, and have been recommended to substitute with 10% creamer for milk to help put on some pounds. Our sweet Bell is tiny. I think it is important to look into genetics, ensure milestones are being reached and that the child is following there own pattern for growth and development. This is not to say that some children do not have a hormonal problem causing their shorter stature, and of course you want to do a proper investigation. But most of the times it is our society now comparing our children.....and then they have to succumb to more of this as adults.....
Here is our little friend who was over the other day and we could not help to notice how all people come in different shapes and sizes, these 2 cuties are just 9 months apart! and both perfectly healthy!
